  • Client – represents the entity that the asset manager sells products.
  • Mandate – contract and terms between client and asset manager
  • Assets – Security/Issues – entity that asset managers buys and sells on behalf of the client. Types of assets include

  • Portfolios – Fund, Accounts, Sub-portfolios – entity that represents the container that maintains the assets.
  • Benchmarks – entity that is used to compare against the portfolio
  • Benchmark Constituents – entities that are contained in the benchmarks
  • Share Classes – entities used by clients to buy into or sell out of portfolios.
  • Positions – valuation, holdings – the value of the assets in a portfolio at a point in time
  • Transactions- trades – entities that are
  • Order – Request to buy/sell from the Dealer to the market
  • Allocations – the split of the order for different portfolios
  • Custodian – is the third party that holds the assets for safe keeping
